As new articles are added to the DOI system at Crossref, Shropsys will scan
the new articles for certain items of interest such as genes, gene variants, and
other search terms. If the article has a match, we store the article link. You may
view the articles matched for an item of interest below. Please note there are certain limitations to our article text
search. We only search article abstracts or text that is freely available. Of the freely available text, we only search HTML
text that is directly available at the main DOI link. For technical reasons, an article may not be retrievable at the
time we are performing our text search. If this happens, we skip over the article. Articles distributed in PDF or other
formats than HTML we will also skip over. There may be other technical reasons for our failure to scan an article. Our text
searches should not be viewed as comprehensive or complete. Often times, particularly with gene names, there will be
matches that have nothing to do with what we were searching for. For example, the gene WAS may match the english word 'was'
in an article having nothing to do with genes. Some search terms may therefore have alot of 'noise', especially if they
have many alternative meanings/uses. We search the complete HTML text, thus we may match on text that is not displayed. In most
browsers one can view the source of the html and perform a search.
